James comes to Granite Bay Care with nearly three decades of experience serving teenagers, foster children, and individuals with intellectual disabilities. After earning his degree from Plymouth State University in 1993, he began his career at a therapeutic school for adolescents here in Maine. Starting out as a direct support staff member and later moving into a Director role at the school, James established a solid foundation in social work. After eight years, he transitioned into case management for foster children, an eye-opening opportunity that highlighted the importance of providing stability and oversight in nurturing environments.
In 2011, James became a Direct Support Professional (DSP), and he has dedicated himself to working with this population ever since. Over the years, he has served as a Case Manager, Director of Residential Services, Director of Operations, and most recently, Director of Shared Living Services. For the past seven years, James has focused his efforts on Shared Living Services and, in February of 2024, joined Granite Bay Care as the Director of Shared Living. He is proud to be part of such an exceptional agency.
Outside of his professional life, James has a 30-year-old son, Jacob, who lives in Hermosa Beach, California, with his fiancée, Sinead. In August of 2024, James married his wife, Kendra. A native of Auburn, Maine, he now resides in Portland with Kendra and their dog, Josi. He treasures time spent with family and friends, particularly at his mother’s home in Old Orchard Beach, where everyone often gathers. In his free time, James enjoys golfing with his son and friends, as well as playing the guitar.
