Maintenance Worker

Job Description

Do you love fixing things? Are you passionate about helping people live their best lives? Then Granite Bay Care is looking for you!

We are looking for someone who likes to keep busy with various responsibilities, including some carpentry, plumbing and general handyman duties. This position requires a self-motivated individual who is flexible and organized who will support proper living conditions and general maintenance for all our group homes. Must have knowledge in carpentry, minor plumbing and electrical. Punctuality, excellent attention to detail and ability to shift gears in a moment's notice.

Required Education and Experience

High School Diploma

A minimum of 2 (two) years working experience in a similar role

Ability to work with power equipment and hardware tools.

Ability to lift 50-80 pounds regularly.

Successful completion of a criminal background check.

Valid license and reliable transportation.

The ideal candidate must being willing to travel to all group home locations throughout Maine with mileage reimbursement, be on call should an emergency arise within a home and have a general understanding of rental and property agreements.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $14.00 to $16.00 /hour

Direct Support Professional

Job Description

Here at GBC we strive to improve, enrich and respect the lives of individuals with developmental, physical, and mental disabilities. We take the time to help develop our clients and implement customized behavior plan and you would be an integral part of this process.

We would expect you be a coach and/or mentor to our client’s and help them achieve the highest level of independence through meeting personal goals and striving for community integration without stigma.

Whether it is assisting them with their daily activities in their everyday life, administering necessary medications, or helping them with housekeeping. What you choose to do every day makes a valuable difference to our clients.

In this position you will be required to update logs, write reports, call and email your supervisors regularly and even transport our clients to various events and appointments. If you have what it takes to enhance our client’s lives then we most certainly want to talk to you.

We are looking to fill with talented people in the follow areas:

  • Midcoast Area (Brunswick, Bath/West Bath, Topsham, North Yarmouth, Lewiston, Auburn, Lisbon, Harpswell and Freeport)
  • Central Maine (Randolph)
  • Portland and Greater Portland (Cape Elizabeth, Falmouth, Gorham, Gray, Hollis, Raymond, South Portland, Saco, Standish, Westbrook and Windham)
  • Southern Maine (Alfred, Arundel, Biddeford, Kennebunk, Lyman, Old Orchard Beach, Shapleigh, Springvale and Waterboro)

The shifts we are looking to fill are:

  • Morning
  • Mid Afternoon
  • Nights/Overnights
  • Must be willing to work weekends and holidays

Some things we require:

  • High School Degree/GED required.
  • Prefer one (1) year of previous experience in a human service, hospital, rehabilitation, or educational setting preferred.
  • Valid Maine driver’s license, working automobile, and proof of automobile insurance.
  • Working cell phone and email account/access.
